Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q : At what ages do you accept students?
A : We are licensed from 01 month through 13 years of age. Our core school age group is from Four weeks through kindergarten age group. Our Summer session is also for available for school agers.
Q : Can I enroll anytime?
A : Yes, we offer rolling enrollment. This is the advantage of a Montessori program as there is no set curriculum with start and stop dates. We personalize the program based on each child’s needs.
Q : What are your school hours of operation?
A : We are open Monday-Friday from 06:30AM to 06:30 PM
Q : What will my child’s typical day be like?

A : Of course, the typical day is different for each age group but in general, all programs start the morning with a quiet activity like puzzle/reading etc. This is followed by Montessori education in each of the five key areas that are mentioned below. Then, the children enjoy outdoor time, followed by lunch, and naptime (for appropriate age groups). After lunch/naptime, each program participates in small group-based learning activities and social time. Please refer to our classroom schedule for more details.

Q : What type of curriculum is used at Freedom Montessori School.

A : At FMS, we fully embrace Dr. Montessori’s belief that childhood education must be progressive. Our Montessori curriculum is tailored to provide continuous improvement specific for each child. Our curriculum offers children five key areas of study: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Culture. Each of these areas of learning uses specifically designed Montessori materials that aid in teaching that specific key knowledge area or skill. Our classrooms present a prepared environment, aimed at satisfying curious minds.

Q : How do you group children?

A : In Montessori, the children are grouped together to promote a peer learning environment. For each program (Primary, Pre-Primary and Infants) the children are in a mixed age group environment, as applicable to that program. While the Montessori guide ensures each child is being presented with learning activities as per his/her abilities and needs, they also get the opportunity to learn advanced concepts by watching older children in the same program. Older children provide leadership and guidance, and benefit from the satisfaction of helping others. Younger children are encouraged by attention and help from older children.

Q : What is the teacher to student ratio?

A : We strictly meet and generally exceed the state mandated Teacher to student ratio. We always have more than one teacher in each class, even if the ratio allows for just one.

Q : Do you provide lunch
A : Yes, we offer USDA certified, healthy, and tasty catered lunch with various options accommodating most dietary and allergy restrictions.
Q : What kind of programs do you offer
A : We offer many different schedule options for each program. Our standard program options are Full Day (6:30AM -6:30PM), School Day (8:30AM to 3:00PM), and Half Day (8:30AM to 12:30PM), each with 5 days and 3 Days option.
Q : Do you operate year-round?
A : Yes, we operate year-round. Our core school year is from September to June and for July and August we switch to our summer curriculum, which is based on weekly learning themes. The operating hours and monthly tuition remain the same for the summer program.
