Our Educators
“It is not enough for the teacher to love the child. She must first love and understand the Universe. She must prepare herself, and truly work at it.”
Dr. Maria Montessori
- At Freedom Montessori School, our educators are passionate and experienced professionals who are dedicated to fostering a love of learning in each child. Guided by the Montessori philosophy, they are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where children are free to explore, discover, and develop at their own pace.
- Our educators are trained in the Montessori method, emphasizing respect for each child’s individual growth journey. They carefully observe and support the natural curiosity of children, guiding them to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. By creating a warm, inclusive classroom community, they encourage collaboration, creativity, and confidence.
- With a deep understanding of early childhood development, our educators integrate hands-on, real-world activities, such as cooking, art, and nature exploration, into daily lessons, ensuring that learning is both meaningful and engaging. They work closely with families to support each child's development, fostering a partnership that enriches the educational experience.
- At Freedom Montessori School, our educators don't just teach—they inspire a lifelong passion for learning.
- Our faculty is the dynamic link between the children and the classroom environment. At FMS, we believe that quality education begins with those who work in the classroom with the children. In our school, the individual responsible for the class is the Lead Teacher. Unlike the teacher of a traditional or conventional classroom, the FMS Montessori lead teachers do not impose their program on the students. They remain in the background, observing the child’s activities, presenting lessons and coming forward at critical times to redirect their activities. Working successfully with children in this manner requires a great deal of skill and training.
- In addition to the college degrees, the lead teachers at FMS have Montessori certification through an accredited Montessori institute such as the Association Montessori International (AMI) or the American Montessori Society (AMS). Our teachers utilize the established Montessori methods and strive to provide your child with a nurturing environment that will allow your child to fulfill their individual growth patterns and to develop mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially.
- We place great emphasis on continual learning and our teachers have completed the required hours of continual training. All of our teachers are certified in First Aid and CPR. FMS conducts criminal record checks and background check for all staff members through the Virginia Department of Social Services and the Department of State Police as required by the county law. Our teachers have all been trained for their duties and meet State of VA standards for Montessori teachers.
