Dr. Maria Montessori
Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms, children make creative choices in their learning while the classroom and the highly-trained teachers offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process.
Programs at our Montessori schools are defined by the practical application of sensory-based and self-directed learning through the authentic Montessori Method. From the beginning, our experienced teachers prepare children to be focused, independent, and innovative learners, as well as responsible, respectful, and mindful individuals.

Our wonderful, cozy, warm environment is specially designed for mobility, and to foster growing independence.
Our wonderful Montessori infant care environment is cozy, warm, and specially designed for mobility. In our lovely infant classroom setting, we foster and nurture your child's independence:
The toddler years are the time when children use their bodies, senses, and emerging problem-solving skills to learn about and make sense of their world, in ways most meaningful and effective for them. Toddlers actively seek out information, learn quickly and easily, and are especially interested in demonstrating independence. Our toddler classrooms allow them the freedom to learn as much as they can, as quickly as possible.
The Toddler environment is more than a mere classroom, it is a home away from home for children ages 18 months to 3 years. Our classrooms are designed to meet the independent and curious nature of a toddler, allowing them to freely explore in a beautiful, carefully prepared environment that is just their size.
We welcome toddlers in diapers and pull-ups and are eager to advise and support your toilet training efforts for your toddler when they are ready. Each student in our Toddler program has the opportunity to:
At Freedom Montessori School, emphasis is placed on gross and fine motor skills, sensorial, language and social development. Toilet training is part of the program. The environment is arranged specially for, and corresponds to, the growing developmental needs of the child.
More than just a classroom, Freedom Montessori offers a caring, nurturing, social community in which the child learns to participate in a cooperative group and is guided along the path of independence and, thereby, freedom.
In the Toddler community we work on:
Tangible academic experiences and practical life exercises engage children in learning, in a mixed-age classroom. The Montessori Primary program offers a unique, mixed-age classroom environment, for children approximately 3 to 6 years old. Here, children engage in individual learning experiences, as well as one-on-one interactions, which are integral to the Montessori Method.
As children get older, they tend to see things that adults find ordinary as very interesting and special. Practical life exercises like sorting, pouring, or washing dishes absorb them completely.
We recognize this as the beginning of control and coordination of mind and body. That’s why Montessori learning revolves around tangible, hands-on experiences.
Children use concrete materials to learn math; movable alphabet letters to explore language; and cubes, cylinders and other objects to categorize, find spatial relationships, and more. Practical learning experiences explore key subjects including:
In the process, children are discovering independence, confidence, and innovation.
Our early childhood classrooms are designed to meet the ever-changing needs of the three to six year old child. Beauty and order play important roles in creating the child size atmosphere which is carefully designed to encourage curiosity and a love for learning.
Freedom Montessori offers each child the opportunity:
A typical day for a young student includes time when the class gathers in a circle to sing together and learns about something new; perhaps the topic is dinosaurs or how to greet a friend with a handshake.
Children in a primary Montessori classroom learn to maneuver about their classroom with confidence, exploring concepts in arithmetics, reading and writing, geography, science and activities of daily life such as preparing their own snack or washing dishes. Children learn skills in grace and courtesy, naturally caring and teaching each other, respecting the classroom activities, and learning to clean up after themselves. Each school day includes active outside play time on our safe and child friendly play areas.
Music, Physical Education and Spanish are all part of the Primary program.
